Art Talk: Visiting Artist Series
Art Talk: Visiting Artist Series is a two semester series that invites working artists & designers to speak to the George Fox University Department of Art & Design students. This poster was created for the Spring 2019 Semester Series.
From beginning to end, the goal was to create a poster that forced the eye all over, while keeping a focal point.

Initial Sketches Above
With the sketches, I knew I wanted to create a very interactive, prominent focal point. Below is a series of beginning poster exercises. I explored Swiss design principles, slowly forming the final poster layout.
Final Art Talk Poster
Providing a closer look, my greatest concern was portraying organized chaos. I wanted to confuse the viewer just enough to look closer & seek out the information needed.
The color palette is that of the George Fox University Department of Art & Design.
Focal Play
Pulling the focal typography out, it begins to interact with itself, giving it even more movement.
The Focal Typography: A Different Look
The driving force behind the poster in is simplest form. No color. Repeated.
